Speed Motion Films is a full-service production house passionate about the creation of high-end digital cinematography for commercial, web and TV outlets based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The unique edge of Speed Motion’s content attracted large brands such as RedBull, ITV, National Trust, Tourism Ireland, Diageo, Virgin Media, NHS, Aston Martin, Lexus, Charles Hurst, Chain Reaction Cycles, Centra and Supervalu.
On top of creating production segments for a number of TV networks, Speed Motion have also produced a 7 episode documentary TV series in-house called Selfmade that is currently airing worldwide including Australia, New Zealand, South America, Asia, Europe and coming soon to the UK and USA.
The creators of Speed Motion, Damien Gallagher and Billy May, met in 2012 when employed as videographers by the world's largest online bike store, Chain Reaction Cycles. They shared a kindred passion for filmmaking and storytelling, with a particular interest in athletes who worked hard to overcome injury in their journey to the top.
One thing led to another, and the two travelled the world filming a seven-part series called Selfmade. From France to Canada, Switzerland to Iceland and many other countries in between, they documented the stories of many other professional athletes that had never been told.
In 2016, Speed Motion received an official selection at the New York City Drone Film Festival with their short film Drone Blender. It featured a drone slicing and dicing different types of food in super slow motion at 1,500 frames per second with a £40,000 Phantom Miro camera. The short film has so far had more than 3 million views across social media.
2016 also saw the launch of Speed Motion’s own Power of Video conference in Belfast, as well as the 2nd Power of Video earlier in 2017. They invited some of the world’s biggest video creators including ‘YouTuber of the Year 2016’ Casey Neistat, Shonduras, DevinSuperTramp, What's Inside?, Arron Crascall, Peter McKinnon, JerryRigEverything, Ben Brown, Cian Twomey and many others.
Over the past two years, Power of Video has amassed nearly 40 million views on both Northern Ireland and Ireland and given local brands, tourist attractions and hotels the opportunity to be exposed to a massive worldwide audience.
